Family Portrait With Storm

Summer Clouds

Soon will rise a storm
Will Burst into our home
If I'll turn pale of fear
Remind of how brave I've been

"Soon will rise a storm... how brave I've been"

Many of the questions regarding this song are about the meaning of the storm and the religious symbols. I just wrote this thinking of a relationship crisis, or better, of a family during a difficult moment. So everything in it is a metaphor for that.

The whole arrangement is made to mimic a summer storm.

When it comes to an end
Will my love be like Summer Clouds
To bring life through my hands
To the hills, to the rest of us?

I've been writing words
To be sown in the ground we own
Once born they'll cast shadows
Tall like gods but the menacing ones

"I've been writing words... but the menacing ones"

I believe we plant ideas in our heads the same way we do with trees. Some happen to grow so fast and overcast their presence on everything else we know, controlling our will as religious thoughts. Irrational fears are usually born this way, but also anger, resentment, and hate.

When they come at the door
Oh my love be like Summer Clouds
When I just feel too lost
Bring me life through the raining sound
Life to the hills beyond us

Will we harvest storm?
This field of mine is drier than I pretend
I've been lacking words
Since you threw them overhand

The sky looks made of gold
Oh my love be like Summer Clouds
And wash away the dirt
From the hills, from what rests of us

"Oh my love be like Summer Clouds"

I'm talking about being able to bring back life to something arid. Summer storms are often scary, violent, and harsh but, right after it passes, you can immediately see the clear sky beneath, so bright and gold that you'll feel it under your skin.

 Sentimental

I've never felt sentimental
For years I always felt I had something wrong
In my head in my heart beats
I never thought I'd learn to love

I feel my blood and my heart
Dancing to your stare
Life in summer went fast
Since you're in my head

I never felt sentimental
For years I always felt I would never change
I'll pay with my soul
For all the times you stood by me

I feel my blood and my heart
Dancing to your stare
Life in summer went fast
Since you're in my head

Life before my eyes felt
So flat I don't even care
About all the time I spent
Reaching out for something I can't have

I never felt like you
